Nurses and healthcare workers have unique overtime rules. Our 8/80 calculator ensures you get every dollar you've earned.
Calculate Your Healthcare OvertimeThe 8/80 overtime system for healthcare is complex. Most workers don't know they might be owed more than standard overtime.
12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, and on-call hours make tracking overtime difficult and error-prone.
Many healthcare workers miss out on legitimate overtime tax deductions because they don't know they qualify.
Deductzen understands the unique 8/80 overtime rules that apply to hospitals and healthcare facilities. We calculate your overtime premium accurately, whether you work standard shifts or extended 12-hour days.

The 8/80 rule is an alternative overtime system for healthcare facilities. Instead of the standard 40-hour week, hospitals can choose to pay overtime after 8 hours per day OR 80 hours per 14-day period, whichever is more favorable for calculating overtime.
The 8/80 system is available to employees of hospitals and nursing homes who primarily provide patient care. This includes nurses, nursing aides, therapists, and other direct care staff. Administrative and non-patient care staff typically use standard overtime rules.
Check your pay stubs or employee handbook, or ask your HR department. Employers must formally adopt the 8/80 system, and it should be documented in your employment agreement or company policies.
